Why Vaughan College

A different kind of high school.

Founded in 2009 by former principals and senior teachers, Vaughan College was built on a simple belief: that a smaller, more attentive secondary school could prepare every student for what comes next.

Our Difference

We shape the school day around your child.

Vaughan College was founded by former principals and senior teachers who had spent careers inside the public system and knew what a more personal high school could look like. What they built, and what has held since, is an Ontario Ministry of Education-inspected private school where the day is organized around your child.

The things we describe below are not extras added to a standard model. They are how the school works, and the rest of this page explains why.

What Sets Us Apart

What we commit to, every day.

These are the commitments that shape how we hire, how we teach, and how we measure whether we are doing right by your child.

  • We teach each student personally

Two students rarely arrive with the same gaps, ambitions, or pace. We follow the Ontario curriculum, but we teach it conversationally, rebuilding the foundations a student is missing and stretching them further in the subjects they are ready to push.
  • Our classes stay small

With a 10:1 ratio, our teachers know every student and notice when one is quietly stuck. They offer help before a student has to ask for it, and the room can slow down for whoever needs it most that hour.
  • We fit around your child’s life

Full-time, part-time for credit-seeking students from other schools, night school, summer school, and online credits. We meet your child on the timeline that fits their life.
  • We guide every student to university

Our guidance is not a single senior-year appointment. From course selection in grade nine through final applications, we help your child align their program with their goals and work directly with OUAC, OCAS, and international admissions offices.

In the Classroom

We put teaching before everything else.

Our teachers were chosen for their depth in their subject and for their patience at the desk. They follow the Ontario curriculum, but they teach it through debate, problem-solving, and the slow rebuilding of any foundation a student arrives without.

Tutoring sessions don’t end on the clock. Our teachers stay as long as the work needs them.

As a student, you want a place that values education over financial gain, and that's exactly what Vaughan College provides. I was never once encouraged to leave after my tutoring sessions, even if I needed more help.

Acceptance & Outcomes

100% of our applicants are admitted to university.

Our graduates go on to the universities you would expect of an academically serious school: the University of Toronto, Western, McMaster, Queen’s, Wilfrid Laurier, and the University of Waterloo, alongside international institutions and Ontario’s top colleges, including Seneca, Humber, and Centennial. For students looking further afield, our Advanced Placement and Cambridge International pathways open doors around the world.

Few of our students arrive already ready, and we organize the school, in every detail, to help them get there. The help that looks small from the outside, an extra half hour, a second explanation, a teacher who notices, is often what changes a transcript.
