Part-Time Studies

Take an Ontario credit one course at a time.

Study with us while you stay enrolled at your home school. We offer day, evening, online, and one-on-one scheduling, taught by the same teachers who lead our full-time program.

A Single-Course Pathway

For students who are enrolled somewhere else.

Part-time at Vaughan College is for the student whose home school can’t offer the course they need, or can’t offer it on a schedule that fits. We accept students enrolled at any other Ontario secondary school and report finished credits back to their school of record, the credit lands on their transcript exactly as if it were earned in the day program.

The format is up to the student. Day classes run alongside full-time students. Evening sessions run twice weekly from 3:30 to 6:00 pm. Online options follow the same syllabus with live virtual instruction, and private or semi-private scheduling pairs a student with a teacher one-on-one or in a table of four.

Most part-time students fall into one of three groups: upgrading a Grade 11 or 12 mark for university admission, completing a missing prerequisite, or taking a course in advance of their home school’s schedule.

In-class learning, from anywhere

Be in the classroom from anywhere in the world.

Some of our online courses run alongside a live class in our Vaughan classroom, and which ones changes each semester. When a course offers it, you’ll see a Live now tag on the course or a Hybrid toggle on its page. Turn it on and you can join the real in-person lesson through Google Classroom instead of a separate online-only section, with the same teacher as it happens. Add it when you enrol or anytime after; in-person students can join the same way on the days they study from home.

How Part-Time Works

Inside a part-time schedule.

Stay enrolled where you are

You don’t leave your home school to take a course with us. We send completed report cards directly to the school of record, and the credit appears on the official Ontario transcript through the same channels universities expect.

A format that fits your week

Choose the format that fits your week: day classes, evening classes (3:30 to 6:00 pm, twice weekly), live online, or private and semi-private. The syllabus and the teaching are the same; only the room and the time of day change. Just let us know what your week needs.

The same teachers who teach here every day

Part-time courses are led by the same Ontario-certified subject teachers who run our full-time program. We don’t bring in a separate roster of after-hours instructors. You learn from the people who teach here every day.

No part-time application fee

Full-time admission carries a $250 application fee. Part-time enrollment does not. You provide a student status summary or recent transcript confirming any prerequisites, plus government ID, and you’re in.

There is no application fee to study part-time. Tell us the credit you need and the format that fits your week, and we’ll get you enrolled.

From a Current Student

What our part-time students tell us.

Many of our part-time students keep coming back. One course often turns into a second, then a summer intensive, then a regular Tuesday-evening rhythm, because the work gets done here.

Vaughan College is a school all about academics. I go to classes each day, looking forward to learning.

  • A hand working through algebra on a chalkboard
    MCV4U

    Calculus and Vectors

    Grade 121 Credit

This course builds on students’ previous experience with functions and their developing understanding of rates of change. Students will solve problems involving geometric and algebraic representations of vectors and representations of lines and planes in threedimensional space; broaden their understanding of rates of change to include the derivatives of polynomial, sinusoidal, exponential, rational, and radical functions; and apply these concepts and skills to the modelling of real-world relationships. Students will also refine their use of the mathematical processes necessary for success in senior mathematics. This course is intended for students who choose to pursue careers in fields such as science, engineering, economics, and some areas of business, including those students who will be required to take a university-level calculus, linear algebra, or physics course. Note: The new Advanced Functions course (MHF4U) must be taken prior to or concurrently with Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U).
