Refund Policy.
How refunds and course transfers work for online course purchases and for full-time, in-person enrolment.
Refund Policy
How refunds work at Vaughan College.
There are two ways to study with Vaughan College, and refunds work differently for each. You can buy a single course online and study through our online classroom, or you can enrol full-time and attend in person. Please read the section below that matches how you are enrolling.
In both cases, we would rather help you move an enrolment than see a family lose a payment, so a course transfer is available where a refund is not. The details are below.
Effective date: June 1, 2026.
Online Course Purchases
Buying a single course online.
When you buy an online course, your enrolment begins as soon as the purchase is complete. We create the student’s account, assign a teacher, and open access to the online classroom right away. Because that work begins immediately, online course purchases are non-refundable.
If your plans change, you can transfer to a different course rather than lose your purchase. Within seven days of buying a course, you may ask us in writing to move your enrolment to another available course at no charge, as long as both of the following are true:
- the student has not yet attempted any coursework or evaluations in the original course, and
- the student meets the prerequisite for the course you want to switch into.
After seven days, or once any coursework or evaluation has been attempted, a transfer is no longer free and an administrative fee applies.
If the student does not meet the prerequisite for the course, that on its own does not entitle you to a refund. We will work with you to transfer the enrolment to a course the student is eligible for.
Full-Time Enrolment
In-person day-school tuition.
Tuition and other program-related fees for full-time, in-person enrolment are non-refundable, except where the school confirms otherwise in writing.
A refund may be considered only in limited circumstances: when a family withdraws in writing before the program or course begins, or when the school cancels a course for administrative reasons. Once instruction has begun, tuition is non-refundable.
The application fee is non-refundable. Where a refund is approved, it may be reduced by administrative processing fees and prorated to reflect attendance and participation.
As with online courses, a student’s failure to meet course prerequisites does not on its own entitle the family to a refund.
How to Request
Requesting a refund or transfer.
Refund and transfer requests must be made in writing, and timing matters. For an online course, we need to hear from you within seven days of your purchase and before any coursework has been attempted. For full-time enrolment, we need your written request before the program or course begins.
Send your request to accounts@vaughancollege.ca, and include the student’s name and the course or program the request relates to. We will confirm what happens next in writing.
